I was at the Heritage Café with my wife and another couple on Wed 9 August 2017. We arrived during a busy lunch period but our table was waiting for us when we arrived. Let me say first off, the food was good and that is the only reason I could stretch this to two stars. We walked in and no one acknowledged us. We sat at the table and eventually we were met by our waitress who took our orders for drinks and food. Our drinks arrived in good time BUT we waited over an hour for our food. I am not exaggerating, in fact it was an hour and four minutes. When the food began to arrive, my brother in law received his hot meal however he waited well over five minutes for cutlery to arrive. The meals arrived at different times (my brother in law received his food ten minutes before my food arrived) and not once did we receive an apology from our waitress for the delay. Other patrons experienced the same terrible service. When I went to the counter to pay the bill the manager offered an apology for the slow service after I told her how long we waited. Her explanation was that we arrived during the peak lunch period. The food was good, the setting is lovely however how can a restaurant think waiting an hour for basic food from a limited menu is acceptable.

By far the best home cooked traditional Newfoundland food and the best service! The atmosphere is cozy inside with rustic charm and there's room out on the deck to enjoy the outdoor panaramic view of the harbour and boats while you eat or sip coffee as well! A definate "worth the visit" for anyone of any age!

Leave a bit of time to walk around the area. Lots of beautiful scenery and photo ops.

Perfect place to grab some traditional Newfoundland food. Make sure that you check out the beans, bologna, toutons and fish cakes.

Our second time here and what a treat. Definitely worth making it part of an excursions to Burin, or even a destination. The food is fabulous and plentiful, only surpassed by the super friendly staff. All this in a funky, fun and cozy setting with awesome views. Highly recommended.
